Seeking the Best Home for a Gelding | For Adoption | Ridable Under Certain Conditions - It is with a heavy heart that, for personal reasons, I am looking for the perfect home for my beloved gelding, Sir Sundance (“Sunny”).
Sunny is a Bavarian Warmblood, 26 years old, stands approximately 1.65 m tall, and has been by my side for many years. That’s why this decision is anything but easy for me. This is not a distress sale—his well-being is my top priority, and I want him to find a loving home where he can enjoy his golden years.
! Housing ! Sunny currently lives in an open stable with 24/7 access to pasture. In winter, he stays in his stall at night and spends the day back in the open stable with access to a paddock. I’d like him to continue living this way, as he’s not a horse who wants to be kept in a stall permanently.
! Health & Special Considerations ! Sunny is still fit and full of life for his age. However, his age does come with some limitations:
* In bad weather (heavy rain, cold, or during the winter months), he sometimes has difficulty getting up after lying down. In doing so, he occasionally scrapes his front legs and hocks. I disinfect these areas and treat them with silver spray, and they usually heal well. * He is shod on his front hooves, as he walks very sensitively and limps without shoes. * Due to his age, his teeth are no longer in the best condition and should be treated again soon. Unfortunately, I can’t find a suitable farrier who’s willing to do it locally.
! Rideability ! Sunny is rideable to a limited extent. He’s still available for light, calm activities. If a child or adult rides him, they should weigh no more than about 60 kg. Leisurely rides as a lead horse are no problem for him.
! Personality ! Sunny is a very sweet, calm, and people-oriented horse. He enjoys going for walks, participates in ground work, and still gallops joyfully across the meadow.
He generally gets along well with other horses, but he likes to be the leader. That’s why I’d prefer he not be in a herd that’s too large and, if possible, be kept with older or calmer horses. Around very young horses, he often tries to keep up, which has unfortunately led to problems in the past.
For Sunny, I’m looking for a kind-hearted person who will give him the time, peace, and care he deserves. A loving home is far more important to me than anything else.
If you’re seriously interested, I’d love to hear from you.
