Duque is a typical leisure horse who doesn't want to "work", but wants to be understood. He is a very sensitive and nervous horse, but incredibly kind, eager and motivated when given reassurance.
Duque is friendly and gentle to handle, but needs calm and clear, consistent leadership. He does not like men and feels much more comfortable with women. At the beginning he was very head shy, but with a lot of patience and training this has already improved considerably - nevertheless, hasty movements or grabbing the halter quickly are an absolute no-go, as he can otherwise panic. If you give him time and treat him with respect, you will be rewarded with his trust.
Under saddle, Duque is diligent and cooperative, no bucking, no rising. He reacts very sensitively to his rider and needs someone who remains calm, gives clear signals and makes him feel secure. He is not suitable for rough or hectic riders - but he can become a very special partner for a sensitive, experienced rider.
Duque is not looking for a performance home, but for someone who takes him as he is, who does not see his sensitivity as a weakness, but as what it is: a sign of sensitivity.
