Herjólfur is a friendly, relationship-oriented gelding who enjoys meeting his human and building a genuine relationship. He is attentive, cooperative and enjoys working both under saddle and on the ground.
In terms of gait, he has a lot of tölt with a pleasantly soft quality of movement. His canter is also buttery smooth and very easy to ride. He has clearly separated gaits.
Hery can be ridden well over the back and with fine weight aids and wants to be ridden in a clear, structured and conscious manner. Some experience in tölt riding is therefore an advantage.
Herjólfur has a medium temperament - attentive without being nervous. He is reliable in the field and is a great partner for relaxed rides. If something unsettles him, he stops and orients himself to his rider.
He was imported from Iceland in October 2023 and is regularly ridden here in pairs or in small groups in the open country. He works well in the arena, but needs an active rider's hand. He is not a "self-runner" - you don't just sit on him and he does everything by himself. He wants to be ridden and enjoys clear aids and teamwork.
Herjólfur is friendly, people-oriented and accustomed to children and also knows ground work, equikinetics and the seesaw. He is uncomplicated in the herd. Rider weight up to approx. 75 kg.
He is in good health: - eczema-free (stands without eczema blanket) - Slight sensitivity to grass mites in the fall (easily regulated) - regularly vaccinated, teeth done - osteopathic care - safe for loading and well-behaved at the farrier - currently barefoot or with hoof boots (previously Duplos)
Herjólfur had a winter break and is currently being trained again. He can be ridden in advance. A current riding video is available and can be sent on request.
For family reasons, we are selling him for less than he is worth.
