Condition: Used and in service for 3 winters; previously coated with food-safe oil. Unfortunately, one has been slightly nibbled on. The feeding grids are used and have slight scratches on one side in places (see photos); the condition varies greatly from hole to hole. Replacement feeding grids with holes of various sizes are available from Heufresser and can also be exchanged for a frame with a net available there. The threaded rods on each of the guide rails have already been replaced. The hay net frame is made of stainless steel and can be unscrewed to replace the net. The replacement net has a defective mesh, but has been used very little.
Manufacturer’s information: The box is made of solid spruce from local forests. The wood comes from sustainably managed forests and is PEFC-certified. The spruce box is industrially manufactured and weighs approximately 25 kg. It has a capacity of 240 liters, which corresponds to a hay volume of about 9–15 kg. This depends heavily on the hay’s texture. The floor and the feeding grid are made of a special plastic that does not break or splinter. This also makes it particularly slip-resistant. The plastic feeding grid is gentle on teeth and gums (unlike any metal fence or grid elements, which are also commonly used). The feeding grid can be removed through a slot on the side for refilling.
The box has the following dimensions: Interior: 1.00 m x 0.50 m x 0.48 m External: 1.10 m x 0.60 m x 0.54 m high With the Fix Plus hay box, the feeding grid is additionally secured in two guides, making it impossible to remove the grid. Nevertheless, the grid can be quickly removed for refilling.
