8-year-old Tinker mare for sale as a groundwork horse/provider - GIVE AWAY UNRIDEABLE GROUNDWORK HORSE OR SIDE-HORSE - TINKER MARE
I am looking for a new, loving home for my 8-year-old Tinker mare Josie (148cm) as a groundwork horse or side-horse.
I bought her in November 2024 as a broken-in riding horse, but the previous owner withheld or did not tell me important information. Josie was then trained by an experienced trainer from the ground for several months and prepared for her riding horse existence with a lot of patience and feeling. Despite this, she showed a great deal of insecurity and discomfort when mounting and dismounting, as well as quickly fleeing forward, including the involuntary dismounting of the rider. 🙈🙈🙈 As a result, the vet took x-rays of her back and unfortunately they show kissing spines - but according to the vet, this is not a sufficient explanation for the reactions shown. We therefore also suspect psychological causes or earlier, negative causes or a rider trauma.
As it is not possible or safe for Josie to be ridden at the moment, she will be handed over as an UNRIDEABLE GROUND WORKING HORSE or BEISTELLER. This will also be stated in the purchase contract, as I don't want her to continue to have bad experiences in this respect!
What does Josie bring with her?
- Excellent in ground work, reacts very finely to body language, gestures and voice. Trained according to Parelli, has classical basic training, free ground work, shock training etc. ...more information and groundwork videos if you are interested. - Ideal for circus lessons or liberty work. - Very people-oriented and friendly in daily contact. But is more of a 1-woman/1-man horse. - Lives in a stable herd in a large open stable and currently spends the summer on the pasture, but can be viewed on the pasture. - High-ranking, but social in her behavior towards other horses. - She is used to going out on rides as a hand horse. - She is friendly to farrier and loading.
Why I am selling her:
I currently have 5 horses (including Josie), of which only my daughter's pony is still rideable. The other 3 riding horses, aged 24, 25 and 28, are pensioners and can only be ridden to a limited extent or not at all, and these 3 can stay with me for the rest of their lives. I can't afford another side-horse and I'm also looking for a riding horse.
I would like to find a place for this special mare where her other strengths are appreciated.
Josie is located in South Tyrol near the Brenner border with Austria.
I could possibly transport the horse with my own trailer.
